The Invitation
The Invitation
You did not fail at keeping a journal.
I want you to hear that clearly, because you have been telling yourself a different story. The story where you tried, more than once, and it did not stick. The story where the blank page sat there every morning and you could not figure out what to say. Or worse: you wrote for weeks, filled notebooks, and nothing changed.
That is not a discipline problem. That is a method problem.
Most journal practices hand you a blank page and say: write what you feel. That is like handing someone a piano and saying: play what you hear. It sounds generous. It is actually abandonment. You need a structure. Not a rigid one. Not a template with prompts and check boxes. A method that takes you somewhere.
The Four Methods of Journal Writing is what I developed after decades of writing my way into and out of the hardest parts of my life. It is four distinct practices, each one doing something different to your inner world. The first one clears. The second one excavates. The third one opens. The fourth one maps.
Over the next five weeks, you will move through all four methods. Each week has its own rhythm, its own tools, its own destination. You will not be journaling about your day. You will be journaling into yourself.
Week 1 starts with the simplest and most powerful method I know: Two-Pages Journaling. You write fast. You do not censor. You burn what you wrote.
That last part is not metaphorical.
This is not a course. There are no modules, no grades, no progress tracking. There is just you, a pen, and a method that works if you follow it.
I am not going to promise transformation. I am going to show you a practice. What happens when you follow it is between you and the page.
If you have tried journaling before and stopped, this is for you.
If you have written for years and still feel stuck, this is for you.
If you are not sure yet, that is fine too. Start with the next piece. See what happens.
Reflection
What stopped you the last time you tried to keep a journal?
